Q. What is Glow Big Red and 24 Hours of Huskers Giving?

Glow Big Red is a 24-hour giving event to advance the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and we ask all Huskers, near and far, to support UNL with a gift to scholarships, colleges, programs, student organizations, inclusion, mental health and many other areas on campus. Glow Big Red is fueled by Husker passion, social media and YOU. Take this opportunity to come together in support of our university with a gift to an area that pulls right at your heartstrings.

Q. When is Glow Big Red?

Glow Big Red will take place from noon to noon, February 14-15.

Q. Will my gift help students? How?

Your gift will most definitely help students — the how is up to you. You can choose to support student scholarships, the college you graduated from or one of the other areas we’ve highlighted as choices for 24 Hours of Husker Giving. It’s your call. All donations will expand opportunities for Nebraska students and create an even better Husker student experience.

Q. Can I participate even though I didn't graduate from UNL?

Yes, please! Parents, community members, friends and fans are all encouraged to support Nebraska during Glow Big Red. The gifts of many will be combined to advance the transformational Nebraska experience for every student on campus and the university’s impact across the state.

Q. What if I've already made a gift to Nebraska this year?

Thank you for your gift! We think you’re the bees knees. Another gift of just $5 or more will help us reach our goal for Glow Big Red, and we encourage you to participate in other ways, too! Make your apartment, home or business glow to let your Husker pride shine. Share your Glow Big Red story using the hashtag #GlowBigRed. You can also help us spread the word by sharing our videos and social media posts!

Q. What's the deal with all the challenges?

We think a little competition makes things more fun, and who doesn’t love to put a costume on their pet? You might have your gift matched or even earn bonus money for your area of interest. Keep an eye on the Leaderboards page for a complete list of challenges, the rules and the winners. And follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for challenge announcements.

Q. What's this I hear about a Huskers stocking hat?

What you heard is true. You’ll receive a complimentary Huskers stocking hat when you make one gift or multiple gifts totaling $65 or more during Glow Big Red — 24 Hours of Husker Giving. Donate in one of these three ways: visit glowbigred.unl.edu, return a Glow Big Red contribution card via mail OR select the giving link in an email you received from Glow Big Red Headquarters. Gifts must be received by noon on Feb. 15 (if you're sending a check, please mail it by Feb. 2), and your stocking hat will be mailed three to five weeks after the event.

Q. Is there a minimum gift amount?

Yes, the minimum gift amount is $5. We have credit card processing fees and administrative costs to cover, but we’ve kept it as low as we can so everyone can participate. Gifts of any amount make a difference and will be counted toward our Glow Big Red total.

Q. Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes, all gifts to the University of Nebraska made through GiveGab and the University of Nebraska Foundation are tax deductible. Learn more here: https://nufoundation.org/legal.

Q. Can I make a gift by mail?

Of course. We encourage you to support the University of Nebraska–Lincoln by mail at any time, but we must receive your gift, specifically designated for Glow Big Red, by noon on Feb. 15. Please mail it by Feb. 1 for it to count toward the day’s totals. Don’t forget to let us know what fund it’s for!

Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money and engage donors, allowing the organizations to function in a more streamlined manner. The University of Nebraska Foundation has chosen GiveGab to facilitate Glow Big Red.

Q. Is it safe to make a gift online?

Yes, please don’t worry; online gifts made through GiveGab are safe and secure. GiveGab will not receive your credit card information, and it will never be shared or sold to a third party.
